360 remote

We upgraded to the 360 remote, it said we didn't need a new box. I did the update following all the steps but the new remote won't work only the old one does. I've followed all the steps, the new one flashed when I press a button but it won't control the TV. There isn't a pair remote option in the audio settings and the manual pairing trick doesn't work either. Any ideas??

Thanks ☺️

  • Hi Debsydoo

If the box has succesfully upgraded to the 360 then the mini TV screen should be in the bottom right hand corner when you have the EPG open.  (It was in the top right hand corner on the V6)

Have you pulled the plastic tab out from the back of the 360 remote so the batteries can make contact and allow the remote to work?  Have you tried changing the 360 batteries?

It's odd that there isn't a pair remote option within the audio & video settings unless the box isn't connected to the internet, or you are trying to set it up through some third party equipment such as Fire TV cube.  What was the manual pairing trick that you tried?

Please try the following.  Hold  down the 'Live TV' (the one on the right hand side directly below the red power/standby button) and '0' button together for around 10/15 seconds. The Standby button should then start to flash followed by an onscreen message displaying 'Pairing successful - this remote will only work with this Virgin 360 box'.

If that fails you can also try the following:-
Put the box into 'Pairing Mode' by pressing the Standby/On button on the front of the 360 box for 10 seconds.  Then using the remote control, press and hold the 'Live TV' button and the '0' button together for 10/15 seconds. And fingers crossed hopefully a  message should appear on the screen confirming that pairing was successful.

Just to confirm, you have updated the V6 box to the new 360 Horizon software?

Glad it's working now -  pressing the wrong TV button is very easily done - it would help if VM actually said which of the two TV buttons it means.

Any more problems or questions just holler.
