Tivo update

Can Virgin please consider a research with a group of customers to discuss issues with upgrade? I have various opinions on how this can be updated to user friendly box.
this can be remotely. Im sure you have LOTs of customers who will like to provide input

  • Most of the features people miss from the V6 and TiVo boxes are TiVo patented so can't be added to the Horizon software that the 360 box uses.

  • You must understand that VM02 is not a friendly company that will spend time and money to make you happy.  They provide a standard product, and you must continue to pay for it until your contract expires.  Only then do you have the opportunity to change things.

You've referenced "TiVo update" in the subject of your post, but posted in the TV360 section.

This provides a query that's also part of the answer. TiVo-firmware is licenced in by VM, whereas the Horizon-firmware that drives TV360 is in-house to VM's parent company, Liberty Global.

VM want to migrate TiVo users onto TV360, and thus anyone who wants their TiVo/V6 updated, will be recommended accordingly. I'd go further than nodrogd's point that you're "unlikely" to get anywhere, and suggest you simply won't.

Regardless of functional differences between the two, VM regard streaming & "online-first" as the future, and thus TiVo as legacy.

They really arent interested. Lots of feedback on here, none of which they've implemented. The objective of the 360 is to get customers onto a cheaper platform. An 'upgrade' to VM profits.

You can suggest it, but you are unlikely to get anywhere. The firmware that is replacing TiVO is the property of VMs parent company, a Europe wide cable operator who has been using this system since 2010 (now in its 6th generation). The kit is standardised across all of their operations, with the exception of the UK/Ireland hard disk boxes (V360), which are now a temporary stepping stone to fully internet driven TV via streaming boxes that are already default issue to new customers.
