Subtitles on Virgin 360

I see the new 360 remote does not have a dedicated subtitles button, and turning on subtitles is done in the Settings.

Is there a way to turn subtitles on and off quickly with Voice Control?

I always use subtitles for dramas but not for sport and documentaries ....I don't want to have to go to Settings to turn on and off each time.

Thanks

Subtitles can be turned off onn individual programmes by pressint the ellipsis (three dots) button, selecting "Subtitles" and then "Off".  Haven't tried Voice Control.

Like you, i have subtitles set to on within Settings but then turn it off for sport and anything that is "live".

Press and hold the voice button and say subtitles

To turn them off press and hold the voice button nad say subtitles off

There's a list of some voice button tips on the following page

  • Thanks both. Two good alternatives to the V6 dedicated button.

  • For someone who can hear or speak clearly the voice button is fine. However, being profoundly deaf, the voice commands do not recognise my Deaf Voice saying "subtitle", so that is a non starter.

Deaf people like my self really do need a dedicated subtitle button like on the V6. That is the reason I am still on the V6.

      Hi sandkj

As indicated by V1nce_A  earlier in this thread, there is a shortcut button on the 360 remote that gives you access to turn subtitles on and off. It's the contextual button ( 3 dots) which is situated directly above the channel up/down button.

There is also the option within the boxes main settings under Settings > Accessibility > Subtitle options which enables you to choose if you want subtitles on or off by default.

There is also an option in that settings section which enables you to highlight Sign Language in the EPG to make those programs easier to find.

        Tuning in

        Hi newapollo,

I'll have a play with the context menu when I go to Mum's, who has a 360 box.

I know about the default. But, imagine you're watching F1, you're watching the pre-race commentary with subtitles on. The formation lap is done, the red lights are coming up, V6: click subtitles off. Then on lap whatever, the team radio comes up. Verstappen is saying something to his race engineer. Most of the time these come up as text on the screen. But every now and then they don't. V6: click subtitles on. Get conversation with race engineer, team radio finished, click subtitles off.

        No faffing with context menus.

@ Sankj  For those that are  profoundly deaf, you set the subtitles option on - it will then stay on for all programmes and stations until turned off.

mailto:.@mikebhm Similar to you, I like subs for most things but not for live stuff eg sport or news. Sport especially there is a big delay between the action and the words.

So, I have 2 profiles - one for subs permanently on the other not

A very simple and effective solution...  Nice one
