Recent installation problems

I recently had a Gig1 and 360 box installed.

There are some issues.

First, when the cable was installed outside the engineer put the cable over, rather than beneath a Rose bush stem. It's tight up against the stem and I'm worried that when the stem grows it will cause a problem with a cable, also some of the cable hasn't been tacked to the wall and it's sagging.

When the 360 box was installed, I was told that the engineer only carried a fixed length scart, consequently, I had to move my TV so that cables would (just) reach the box.
I can't run an HDMI and power cable .cable to where I wanted the TV as it would have to go along the floor and past a doorway.
I need a longer scart lead, and also a longer cable so that I can run the cables around the room rather than past a doorway.

Could you please assist with this?

Thanks.

Thanks...The cable is hard up against the stem.

Prune the rose stem and let it grow in a suitable place?   Also VM do not supply SCART leads.  However the engineer should have installed the Hub in the place to suit you.  I would be looking for a revisit to resolve this.

That's not an Insightful response about the rose bush. The cable should not be hung across a plant or anything else.

Yes, we all know that, but you and I have been here long enough to know anything is possible regarding cable routes โ€ฆ and itโ€™s not always the best.

  • Correction to my comment..I didn't mean a scart lead, I meant the Co-ax cable that runs from the router to the 360 box.

Also, I did mention when I ordered Virgin through an O2 store that I would need fairly long leads, and they told me that the engineer should carry these leads.
I'm not sure if they made a note of this on my order.

Jpeg1, thank you, yes, cutting the bush is not a helpful response, I agree that the cable should not have been placed over the stem

  • Can I flag this thread to be picked up by the Virgin support team, or will it be read by somebody from the team anyway?

This is a Community forum and not a direct line to VM as such.  It may take a couple of days for a VM Mod to pick this up and respond.

  • Apologies, this should read Co-ax cable, not scart cable, the cable from the router to the 360 box.
