Premier League on SSM and MixIt package

Hello,
This Sunday just gone, a Premier League match was on Sky Sports Mix 2pm kick off.

I have a Sky Sports subscription on MixIt. Sky Sports Mix (and Sky Sports News) are not part of either package. Despite paying for access to Premier League matches, I was unable to watch one.

Should the channel be unlocked whenever there is PL footie on there? It’s unreasonable to expect football fans to pay and extra £25 a month when already paying for a sports package, expecting PL football.

  • Can you clarify what this payment is actually for, do you have access to all the Sky Sports channels. If you pay for Sky Sports you normally get all the channels and access to all the red button options which you might not get access to if you don't pay for Sky Sports.

The Sky Sports subscription covers all the Sky Sports channels except for Sky Sports News, Sky Sports Mix & Sky Sports Racing. These are part of a separate carriage agreement called Sky Basics. This includes Sky Showcase, Sky Witness & Sky Max amongst others. These channels are not part of Mixit, so as a Sky Sports subscriber, be you subscribing direct from Sky or another third party provider, you have to also have a package that also includes the Basics channels to get them.

As has already been stated, any matches not on the main Sky Sports channels are carried on the Sky Sports + red button service.

Not sure if that reply was meant for me or the OP, I do know if you have subscribed to Sky Sports you get all the Sky Sports channels and red button access, I was just asking the question to make sure if he was paying for Sky Sports he would also have access to Sky Sports channels 501 and up and if he can't then it can't have been activated correctly.

Maybe the question to the OP is can he watch channels 501 and up, and is it just the red button that's not working.

If  you have an active Sky Sports subsciption which you are paying through VM then you should also have been able to use the red button on any Sky Sports channel (except Sky Sports Mix, Sky Sports News or Sky Sports Racing) to access the additional streams which are available as part of Sky Sports+

The Wolves v Brighton game that was showing on Sky Sports Mix was also available via the red button.

  • Hello Chelschris,
Welcome to the Community, and thanks for taking the time to post here on the forums. I’m sorry to hear you’re having issues with your package.
If you have a full Sky Sports subscription, you should be able to access Sky Sports Mix. Please note that this channel isn’t automatically unlocked for all customers during Premier League games—you’ll need an active Sky Sports subscription to view it.

    Kind Regards,

    Steven_L

Sky Sports Mix, Sky Sports News and Sky Sports Racing are not part of the Sky Sports premium package, but are non-premium channels. They are currently included in Virgin Media's standard packages except for the legacy Mixit package (which the poster is on) and the basic Flex package, so such subscribers need to upgrade their standard package in addition to subscribing to Sky Sports to get all the channels.

I'm pretty sure Sky Sports Mix particularly, was historically only on Maxit/Full House/XL.

Either way, multiple other posts have already made the point it's not part of the Sky Sports subscription.
