Poor picture quality on 360

As the title suggests…. Have really poor picture quality across all channels. I had poor picture quality on my old TV and stupidly thought it was my TV which is why I had such bad quality so purchased a new LG OLED TV and no difference at all.

My dad has a 10 year old basic TV and is with Sky and his picture quality is exceptional.
All HD channels are like watching SD, I’ve tried amending the resolution on the settings which makes no difference. Only time I get a good quality picture is when I’m watching on one of the apps such as Prime or Netflix. Few pictures of the picture quality I’m getting - all of this is on HD channels.

  • Sorry to jump on this thread as I am interested in this too, as I have the same issue as you. Treat myself to a top of the range OLED LG TV too and the picture quality is just awful with virgin! My dad has a 10 year-old telly from John Lewis and use the sky and the picture is like watching in 4K. This was in HD watching the MotoGP this weekend with virgin. Truly awful!

I have an old V6 box which has been updated from TiVo to 360 software. Nothing else has changed but the quality of broadcast and recorded channels is now much softer than before. This now shows up my high end 4k TV which gives a much better picture from an aerial.

I have tried setting 1080i as suggested but no improvement even though my TV upscales very well.

I am kicking myself for upgrading the box and would like to know whether Liberty Global Horizon programme is due an update to get the picture quality back to the V6/TiVo standard.

Just 'upgraded' to 360, and would love to go back (if possible)...! Why, as pointed out the image is now a lot 'softer' than before!

But worse is the way it works. If you switch off, then back on again, why can't it just go back to the channel you were watching..? Why to you have to alway land on the Home page full of adverts, then have to go to look for the channel you were previously watching...!

Tivo, you switched it off, then when you switched it back on, it on the same channel as you left it (so no going back to the home screen adverts, then having to go back to the channel you where watching) irritating.

In short, if you're happy with what you have with Tivo, then don't migrate over to 360, I don't think it's an upgrade (IMO), unless you like seeing adverts every-time you switch the box on.

  • Sorry I know I’m not the original poster but assume he’s having the same problem as me, my TV picture is awful even in HD - the picture I posted above of the Moto GP was from the TNT HD channel!

  • To add to that, Netflix apps / Prime etc all an exceptional picture. Just anything on the box is crap.

Just to clarify, do you mean that viewing streaming apps on your TV360 is OK, and this problem only affects broadcast channels? The second part of your statement seems to suggest otherwise.

  • Have you tried switching the tv360 box off and back on? Or rebooting it? I've had similar issues when I switch off my tv leaving the 360 box on and then switch the tv back on. It's like it breaks some connection. Switching the 360 off and back on fixed those issues for me.

Yep, unfortunately no good. Have restored to factory settings too and still no better.

      Hello Tubblecakes

Thanks for your first post and welcome to our community.

Sorry it's not on better terms with you needing to escalate the picture quality.

Would you be able to have a look here at our handy hints on fixing a picture issue.

If that doesn't fix the quality, please let us know.

Your link takes us to a main menu. Where specifically are the picture quality hints?

  • I recently had virgin installed from Sky and my sky sports are just SD and movies are HD. To make my picture a bit better i selected the resolution from auto to 1080i or 1080p on the 360 box as I know the box is rubbish at upscailing to 4K.

    this may help.
