Try selecting Vestel as the manufacturer rather than Panasonic. Run the pairing tool all the way through. You also need to ensure One Power is enabled to switch your TV and box on and off at the same time.
I would definitely try the Vestel advice posted above if you haven't already, because I see from a quick look on John Lewis the TV is made in Turkey where Vestel are based.

How did you re-pair the remote? Did you use the correct 'Live TV' button? (the one on the right hand side directly below the red power/standby button)
It should work by holding down the 'Live TV' and '0' button together for around 10/15 seconds. The Standby button should then start to flash followed by an onscreen message displaying 'Pairing successful - this remote will only work with this Virgin 360 box'.
You can also try the following:-
Put the box into 'Pairing Mode' by pressing the Standby/On button on the front of the 360 box for 10 seconds. Then using the remote control, press and hold the 'Live TV' button and the '0' button together for 10/15 seconds. And fingers crossed hopefully a message should appear on the screen confirming that pairing was successful.
Yeah that’s the button I used. It says it’s paired to the Panasonic but doesn’t do anything.
I’ll try the other suggestions of selecting vestle but I’m not sure how to get to that point of selecting manufacturer.
When you go to Settings, Audio & video, Pair remote devices there should be an option to enter the manufacturer.
