No Red Button on Living Room V6 box

Hi , I have 2 V6 boxes running TV360 , one in the living room , one upstairs.

I get the Sky Sports package to watch Rugby League , the Super League season started on Feb 13th and 3 games a week are on the Red Button service.

I attempted to get the Red Button service on Sky Ports+ channel 508 , here's what happened.

Since first trying on  Friday 14th Feb I have had no Red Button service on the living room box . I get the menu showing the sports and matches available , but when I select one I just get a message "This stream is currently unavailable . Please try again later . Error code AMP6006 . ID:Od2971"

The first day I tried every 30 minutes , but couldn't get anything . I have since tried every day -with the same result , but two days ago ( Saturday 22nd Feb) the V6 box just froze when I selected a sport in the Red Button section. I had to switch the box on and off to get it working again.

The V6 box upstairs works perfectly  , but you can't record Red Button matches .

I thought about swapping boxes but the one in the living room is connected to the router with a network cable , so I don't want to mess about with it.

Do I need a new V6 box for the living room and how do I go about ordering a replacement ?

I've run all the online tests and they tell me there isn't a fault with Virgin's system , so it must be at my end.

I tried ringing them but after 3 minutes I just get offered a text to a website with diagnostics or something .

If I have to miss any more matches I might have to switch to S*y or another provider.

Thanks in advance !

  • Have you tried the Red button option on the other Sky Channels to see if it's the same.

You could try a factory reset if you haven't already tried that, go to Settings > System > Factory Reset

It's only a partial system reset and not a complete factory reset. You are given 2 options,

    Keep Recordings
    Format Disk

Choose Keep Recordings, that means you won't lose your recordings and any planned recordings or series links you've set up, you will have to sign into your apps such as iPlayer, Prime, Netflix and ITVX again, also Match frame rate and Standby power consumption will go back to their default settings if you have changed them.

If the factory reset doesn't fix it I would try swapping the boxes around to prove it's an issue with the box.

To get a replacement box you need to call Virgin on 150 from a Virgin phone, mobile or landline, or 0345 454 1111 from any other phone to report a fault, or wait here for one of the forum team to pick this up which might be 2 to 3 day's.

When phoning choose the option to report a fault, then ignore all the options offered and you should then be placed into a queue to speak to someone.
