HD v UHD darkness

Whilst the picture on my UHD channel is much sharper for some reason it's much darker than HD and therefore makes it difficult to watch. Anything I can so to make it better?

  • Hi yorkshirecath,

Thank you for your post. We're sorry to hear about the darkness on your UHD channel.

Is this happening on all programs on the channel?

Hi, how did you solve this please? I’m stuck with the same issue on my 4K Samsung TV - dark menu and picture on UHD channels that I don’t have on 4K content that doesn’t come through Virgin box. What’s the solution please?

        Hello iTod87.

Thanks for your post and welcome to our community.

Sorry to hear about the image quality with UHD content.

Can we please ask if this has always been the case or has it just strated recently?

What set top box do you have?

  • Always helps if you say what TV (make and model number) you have for specific advice on settings for the TV, some TV's have default settings for UHD which you might be able to change.

Does your TV support HLG / HDR ?

If you are talking about Sky Sports there is a delay between just HD Main Event and Sky Premier League, so also a delay between the UHD version's, just the way it's transmitted.

Check the delay between something live on BBC TV and watching the same live event on iPlayer.
