Sky on-demand UHD instead of hd?
I'm watching The Walking dead, Dead City on demand (Sky Max). but the picture is washed out compared to the recording.
I have a Samsung FHD TV and haven't had issues on other shows using Sky on-demand.
I've got a stream box, but I am sure that the on demand is the same as the 360 box.
I've looked at the first episode of season 2, and it comes up as HDR [HLG HDR] on Virgin. I am almost certain that it shouldn't given the underlying programme, and also that it isn't on Sky Q.
I have had the same happen on a 5 programme [Murder Most Puzzling] and a U&Alibi programme [Bookish] over the past couple of days, both of which I am sure shouldn't be in HDR. It doesn't affect all episodes, those broadcast this week are fine, it is the remainder of the series in box sets that is wrong.
Having picked up the HDR, the colour pallet is fine here. The biggest issue is that the ads aren't in HDR and thus it switches when they come on, meaning the first second or two is sound only when the programme starts again and the TV switches back to HLG.
I have had on demand programmes look washed out from the free U& channels, so I suspect they are suffering from the same issue, albeit without the HLG switch here.
I don't think in general that the programmes listed under Sky Max [i.e. not the HD channel] and similar on other channels are SD, and indeed those are the ones that are labelled HDR. Those listed under the HD channel are only any broadcast in the last few days and indication of any due to be broadcast in the next few days. The Sky Max without the HD in its name [and similar for other channels] includes the full box set in HD [or labelled HDR here] where available.
