Do I need a box and getting it moved

I have my router in one room coming in via an external box. This was moved/ added when I knocked a wall down about 10 years ago.  In another room ( both downstairs) I have my tv box with a cable coming in from external through an old telewest box. This was the original installation years ago. I want to leave both where they are but ideally want the tv box in a different place as we are about to decorate and the plaster is all getting knocked off that wall so ideal time to move it. Any suggestions?

  • I didn’t explain very well originally. I want the hub and the tv/ tv box left where they are. I want to move the ‘socket’ as it’s in a really awkward and obvious place on a wall when I want it moved ‘round the corner’ so it’s behind the tv and not on show.

Call the faults line & book a non-fault technician call-out. As it is a customer requested change there is a standard fee of £25 for any alterations.

Is the wall box necessary? Yes. It contains a safety isolator to stop dangerous voltages entering the house through the cabinet drop line

  • I just need the socket that the coax cable comes from moved to a spot approx a metre from the original ( round a corner but still an external wall)

Just to remember the TV "box" needs that co-ax cable, so think carefully about where you are putting it.  VM will not do any wiring that is not on the surface.  If the TV box is to be sited near the Router, then the other outside omnibox can remain, but the cable disconnected.  The TV box can then be fed from the Router with a spiltter.
