connecting Virgin TV box without cables

Hi all,

I upgraded to Virgin TV services only as it was bundled with faster broadband. The TV box has been put to one side due to the box appearing to have to be connected to my router via cables.

My router is at the back of my house (nowhere near my living room). My question, simply put, is; can I connect the TV box to my telly without physically connecting it to my router, or will it run OK just via WiFi connection (like a Sky box will)?

Any help is appreciated.

    It’s not that simple. Most VM TV boxes need a coax connection from the street cable via a ‘splitter’. This can be located in the outside omnibox or adjacent to the hub if the hub and TV boxes are in the same location. When the system is installed the technician should arrange the cabling. In your case the splitter would be in the omnibox. Also the TV boxes needs either an Ethernet cable back to the hub or the use of WiFi. I think you should contact VM to get it sorted out.

    Hi Liam,

    You've posted in the 360 forum but I'm just wanting to check, do you have the TV360 box or the Stream (Flex) box?  There's pictures of the two boxes below.

    The TV360 box does need to be connected to the white coaxial cabling in order to watch live TV, so if you need that cabling then you'll need a tech to install it for you.

    If you have the Stream(flex) box then it's IPTV and the live TV is fed over the internet so you should be able to connect via wifi.
