changing to v360

I keep getting messages to "upgrade" to the v360 box but having read some of these comments I'd rather stay where I am. Am I being a dinasaur and how long have I got until I have to ???

Hi Gareth, thanks for getting back. I'm already on the V6 box, there seems to be a big jump to the 360, could I get an engineer to swap it as I'm not very tech aware.

The V6 to 360 is done via a software upgrade over the broadband.  You will get a new 360 remote and shortly afterwards the software upgrade should be available for install.   The V6 hard drive will be reformatted, so all recording etc will be lost during this process.  An engineer visit is not required.

  • Hello reub777

    Thanks for your post.

We don't have a set date yet for making the old TiVo box obsolete. We'd like to say very soon though, as most Apps are slowly becoming unsupported.

It is entirely up to you what you want to do. You could jump up to the V6 box, which won't affect you at all, as it uses the same interface as the old TiVo box.

The 360 box is the latest one we have, which some customers find the change difficult.

We're here if you need any further help.

You're certainly not the only dinosaur, if that's your choice of word!

You could speculate endlessly on how long before migrations are compulsory, or TiVo-software stops being supported.. but I very much doubt we're talking months.

If you have a TiVo you will have to upgrade sooner or later as these boxes are being phased out.

The TiVo is indeed a legacy box, and the hardware is antique-standard. But faulty TiVo's are replaced with V6 as a matter of course - which for irregular forum users who wouldn't otherwise know, run the same TiVo software.

VM's marketing push for TV360 conversions is directed at both TiVo & V6 users.

Maybe, but best to wait until you are forced to downgrade to 360?

Just ignore the “upgrade” if you are happy with what you have.  It’s not mandatory.
