CEC control of volume

I have a new TV360 box connected to a Denon AVR and then to a projector.  I have enabled all HDMI LINK - One Power (CEC settings) in all devices and the power on / off functionality works most of the time via HDMI.

I can control the volume of the receiver but it only works via the Infra Red output of the TV360 remote, this is not how the HDMI CEC functionality should work ?   The remote obviously has Bluetooth and IR but I had assumed that that CEC functions would allow it to properly control the volume of the AVR over Bluetooth ?

Is this how the remote its meant to work,  it seems ridiculous to use the CEC functionality to allow power on / off control but not to control the volume in the same way ?  My amp is hidden behind our projector and the IR control is not helpful.  Thanks for any help !

  • Hi Steve,

Unfortunately this is how it works, the 360 remote will only control the volume on my LG TV and soundbar using IR so it has to have LOS. I can use either of my LG remotes not in the same room and they will control the volume so if your Denon's remote is RF you will have to still use that. ☹️

      Hi,

Thanks for the reply, it's good to know it's also how it works for you however I don't think it's correct.  The se-top box is definitely capable of HDMI CEC control and it works properly for Ziggo customers in Holland so this is a bug / omission in the TV360 firmware and it would be great to get it fixed or resolved.

The power on command works and the volume control should follow the same protocol.  I've seen forum posts on here suggesting that some TV360 customers have had success controlling the volume of their TV's via CEC but it's not clear if that's via RF or IR.

Big shame, it all feels fairly flaky and unreliable and as a new customer it's pretty disappointing.  Thanks again for your help
