Are recorded programmes kept when the 360 has been switched off for a long time?

All of my stuff has gone into storage for about a year. My 360 box is 95% full and I don't want to lose the recordings. Will the recordings be there when I turn it back on, or will it delete them because they are so old when I next switch it on due to inactivity? Or will Virgin delete them all as soon as they connect to my box for whatever reason? So I want to know if they will remain when I switch it on, whether or not I connect it to the Virgin cables / internet box. If Virgin does delete them then I will leave the box disconnected and use another way to watch TV until I have watched all of the programmes on the 360 which they won't be able to connect to if it is only plugged into the mains and my TV.

  • I take it that all of your stuff except the 360 box and TV  have gone into storage so you are still planning on watching recordings on the 360.

The box does need to be connected to the internet because if it isn't it might be deactivated after 30 days.

The 360 works with the recording's on your box and the info for your recording's held on Virgin's servers.

I wouldn't keep your box at 95% you might find you don't have enough space if you set a 4K recording.

You also need to keep the box connected to the internet so it receives any updates.

  • The main thing is to keep paying your monthly bills because if you default your account will get suspended and you'll lose the facility to play back recordings. The recordings will still be on the hard drive but the DRM keys needed to decrypt them will eventually expire and playback will fail.
