all recordings deleted. Again

i turned on my 360 box to find i have no recordings.it was at 75% full the night before.obviously i havent deleted them.it will pause and rewind live tv so hard drive ok. i have another box in my bedroom that also has lost all the recordings. i dont believe both boxes would go faulty at the same time so its something virgin has done at their end.  i thought the point of having a 1tb hard drive was to record programs locally. the fact that they have both been wiped is clearly done from virgins end not my intervention.  tried calling virgin but been in a queue for over an hour without speaking to a real person as usual. is it time to move to sky

  • Hi warrenmoore

    Welcome to the Community Forums.

Sorry to hear that your recordings have been deleted without request.

How do you manage your recordings storage? Ensure that you don't have auto delete enabled.

You can follow the steps below on your set-top box to check and change this:

    Saved>Recordings>See All>Manage Storage

Next (after entering Pin) change the option for ‘Auto delete when space needed’ to ‘Off’

If you want to keep auto delete ‘On’ but want to protect certain recordings or series from being deleted then follow the steps below:

Select the recording/series from the ‘See All Recordings’ menu and select the ‘pencil’ icon on the right-hand side of the recording

Next, select the option ‘Protect from auto-delete’

Please let us know if you've any further questions or concerns, we can provide general help and support via social media if needed.

i have never had auto delete enabled.even if it was it wouldnt delete every recording on 2 separate boxes over night. i had some very special recordings on there of departed family from over a year ago.why did you delete everything

  • With 360 all your recordings might have been on one box unless you specified which box to record on, the view all default view shows recordings across both boxes.

If the 360 has deleted your recordings and planned recordings it's a sign that the box is faulty.

the second box did mirror what was recorded on the downstairs box. surely the content is stored on both of the boxes hard drives else whats the ponit of the drives in them. 2 boxes are unlikely to go faulty at the same time, especially as they record and rewind now. its disappointing that virgin dont reply admitting it, when it must be something that they have done at their end.they just reply with the same message to everyone about turning of auto delete.

No, recordings are only stored on the HDD of the box to which they were recorded. Only TV360 master-boxes have hard drives, all subsequent TV360-mini boxes share the storage space.

it must be something that they have done at their end

VM may have their issues, but intentionally causing faults where there is no benefit other than unhappy customers and fault situations.. what would be the point?
