4200 drm failed on stream

The Channel 4 app consistently displays this error message. Let me play all the adverts and even has the index of TV programs to watch, but then this happens
Have replaced HDMI rebooted numerous times, logged in and logged out used another username, still no joy. All other apps work perfectly normal. Anybody have the answer?

  • Despite it being a new box, and trying every cable, I called Channel 4 who advised to clear the cash/reboot with recent software upgrade, and this fixed it! Who would’ve thought!

  • As you mentioned stream in your title are you using a stream box or 360.

It could be something to do with HDCP compliance, you might need V2.1 cables and a TV that supports HDCP V2.2 depending on what you are trying to watch, odd it only happens on channel 4.

Sorry Roy I ticked the wrong button there! Have tried every port on the HDMI, with the lead they gave us for the stream box, sadly not working. Strangely they replaced our box recently and it worked on the old box with the same HDMI. Very puzzling, don’t know who to contact Channel 4 Virgin Media??

        Hi Ttt81,

You can cancel the helpful answer by clicking on it again, if you have a stream box this should get moved to the stream board by one of the VIP's or mod's.

If it was working with the old box but not the new one it would point to your new box possibly being faulty, but as nodrogd said there have been posts on sky so maybe it's content related or transmission fault.

Channel 4 seems to have a recurring problem with this. It’s not just Virgin, there are a lot of similar threads on the Sky forums quoting the same error.

DRM (Digital Rights Management) errors can sometimes be caused by a faulty HDMI cable, or an HDMI cable that has become partly unseated. Have you tried a different HDMI port?

Also, as correctly suggested by roy247 are you using the correct HDMI cabling?

The channel 4 app is well known for being a PITA with DRM and only playing adverts - forums (not just VM) were awash with that particular issue at one time.
