360 is meant to be rubbish?

Today my V6 box told me it was updated to 360. The remote seems to work (but so does the old V6 remote). However, the functionality is poor. How do you record something?  In fact, after 30 minutes with 360 I would like my V6 back. Can I return to V6?  It was simple to use and did what I needed. This 'upgrade' feels like nothing of the sort.

  • In the tv guide select the channel you want by keying the channel number you want on your remote. Scroll across to the programme you want and press the record button which is the red circle button on the remote. Or if you are on  the channel you want to record a programme, press the ok button on your remote and scroll across to the programme and press the red circle button to record.

The 360 box does take some getting used especially the different layout and getting used to the functions as there are some missing compared to the V6 box but once you get used to the 360 box I think you will like it.

Unfortunately once you have changed to the 360 box, there is no going back to the V6 box.

I don't have a channel guide. the old v6 guide still comes up with both remotes.  i only have live.

If there is no going back then it looks like Virgin have lost a customer.

The point is that none of the functions work. I can change channels on live TV with both the V6 and 360 remotes but that is it. I cannot record, search, stream with either remote. The channel guide is still the same as the V6 one before. I am currently on a 150 call but they seem to be as much use as a chocolate teapot.

  • When setting a series link select the Advanced settings and then select New Only, you also have This episode only, From this episode onwards, All from series xx only, All from series xx and onwards, New episodes only and All available episodes.

I use the "New only" option.

I already had most of that with V6, and the orther stuff isn't something I would need.  How is 360 better? It wasn't broken, why fix it.

I don't have any settings. I only have the V6 channel guide. I cannot record or search with either remote. I am currently on a 150 call trying to get my box returned to V6. At least that worked.

TV360 is a completely different software platform to TiVo/V6, conversions to it are voluntary but a one-way-trip. V6 is very recording-centric, TV360 designed much more for the "online" world with recording retrofitted.

What are the circumstances that led you to migrate from V6 > TV360?

I'm guessing it's an email with the words 'free upgrade' or 'your box needs an upgrade', but no mention of Tivo functions you'll lose.

Always opt out of marketing to avoid these pitfalls.

OK, I have now been pressing combinations of buttons on the remote as per instruction and something has happened....The 360 remote has stopped working altogether!!! 100 minutes on the call now.

105 minutes, cannot find a solution. Now got to wait 5 days for someone to get back to me. What a waste of time.

Sounds like the upgrade hasn’t completed successfully, you would notice a big change from the TiVo interface if it had worked.

have you tried power cycling your box (power off at wall for at least 30 secs and power back on)?

Yes, went all through that with the person on the other end of the phone. Also pressing TV and rewind for 10 seconds and tv and 0 for 10 seconds. That's when the remote ceased working!

Had a call about an hour ago from someone who was also struggling with their English. We never got past the security questions as he could not understand my answers, either that or he was miscounting the letters in my password.  So now just spoken to another person. There is a technician coming out on Monday!  So all I have until then is live TV, can't record, watch recordings or search for streams.

Try the following, it's worked for some forum members.

Turn off the 360 at switch;  then on the 360 box  hold down both the power button and the - (minus)  button at the same time. Then turn on the 360 again whilst keeping hold of those buttons for a further 30 seconds. The box should reboot, the power button will turn blue, and it should reset and boot up normally as a 360.

If that fails try the same but use the + (plus) button in place of the minus button.

I went through all that when I was on the phone.  Today all my recordings re-appeared on the V6 box. I can't record, stream or even pause though. Engineer due on Monday.
