2nd box pause live tv

Hi folks, problem with my 2nd vm box - I can't pause live tv for more than 5 mins. Real annoying! Can't find a setting that changes that value. Anyone got any thoughts on this, please?

You've not said what combination of boxes you have, but I'm going to assume you have a TV360-master and your second box is a TV360-mini.

On this basis, what you describe is normal behaviour. Your master box has a hard drive and therefore all the recording capability. The mini-box, half-the-height, doesn't have an HDD and thus relies on the master for all recording. It has a short buffer for live TV, I thought it was approx 4mins30 but that may vary.

If you're going to want to pause the mini-box for longer than that, then you should set the programme to record which will use the master box's HDD. Then by all means watch the recording "live"

    Knows their stuff

If its one of the newer 360 miniboxes, it won't do, as no hard drive.

No issue with the older V6,  another 'downgrade'.

  • Hi there Pablofingers

Thank you so much for your post and welcome to the community forums, it's great to have you here.

I am so sorry that you have faced this issue with your live pause, and a big thank you to our community team so far for their advise.

Are you able to confirm which Set Top Box you are trying the live pause on?

    Hi Ashleigh,

Sorry for the slow reply. This is a second tv360 box, listed as the default "Virgin TV 2". Couldn't find a cpe id. The software level is 5.15.

The problem hasn't gone away in the last few months! Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated.

Which 360 box are you having problems with, a 360 main box or a 360 mini box, main box is on the left and mini box on the right. You should probably be able to pause for 3 hours on the main box (although I haven't tried), because you can rewind live TV back that far or further.

The mini box doesn't have a hard so can only buffer for a few minutes, depending on the format SD, HD or UHD determines the time it will buffer, to pause for longer you need to press record so it uses the 360 main box hard drive and then watch as a recording as previously advised by japitts.

If you use the TVGO app you can change the default recording box.
