2 x v6 boxes - both bricked !!

we have 2 v6 boxes in 2 rooms at home 

At the weekend we tried the 360 update on one of them in the main room. Initially went well and we got the box to upgrade but could not make either of the new remotes talk to the box any longer 

tried to re-pair the remote like it shows on Youtube

Did not work and after a number of restarts the box simply stopped booting (orange glow)
Brought the box from the other room and tried that - orange glow again  

Put a call in to VM "help" which was answered (after a massive wait) and we have an engineer coming to our home tomorrow but in the meantime both our boxes simply power up to the glowing orange light / "I am a brick" state

Is there a factory reset worth trying ?
Any other ideas ?

    The firmware migration on older V6 boxes is very hit & miss. In your case it looks like it has crashed the boxes at the reformat stage, which is a non-recoverable state.

    You will need to decide where the new master V360 box will go when the technician arrives, as only one of the replacement boxes will record. The other will just stream from the main unit. The upside of this is that the streamer no longer needs a coaxial connection & can be moved about the house to wherever it's needed.

    How did the visit go, are they up and running okay now?
