Porting landline

Hi,

I've been with Virgin Media for several years, having a landline, TV and broadband provided by them. I've recently moved home, and the service has been moved over. The property I have moved to has a telephone number that I would like to keep, I'm happy to give up my previous number.

I requested that it was ported over a few months ago, however I'm still waiting. I have tried several times to contact VM regarding this with no success. Even raised a complaint with no feedback after 2 weeks. How do I raise a request to get the number from my new property, currently with BT ported over.

Virgin Media's customer service is currently beyond poor.

  • Hello watman1969,

We’re really sorry to hear you’ve had such a poor experience with this, it’s absolutely not the level of service we want you to have. When an account is being disconnected or a customer is moving to a new property, we always check whether they want to keep (port) their landline number to the provider they’re switching to.
This is because the number must stay active during the 30‑day disconnection period for the port to be successful.
If you are moving your services to BT and still have an active Virgin Media landline, your new provider (BT) will normally request the port on your behalf and as long as your Virgin line is still active, the number can be transferred over.

Port the additional number from the new property to a VOIP provider.

VM are only interesting in offering one phone service as a way to bind you into a more costly contract.
