New phone ststem.

I have a dual phone walk around system. One in the living room and one in the kitchen.
My hub is in my conservatory where its linked to games consul, computer and second tv.
The signal from it is so week I can't run my living room tv from its wireless signal also any mobile phone (intenet connected) signal bars drop down down to the lowest setting. if the conservatory doors are closed the signal drops off. The living room is only about 15 foot away across the kitchen in a straight line.
I now have to put the phone base station in the conservatory and the secondary link from kitchen to living room.
My honest thoughts are the phone will ring but the secondary unit will not pick up the signal so I will miss calls if in the living room.
Why are they changing it and causing us, the customer, so much work and uncertainty. If I had faith in the modem signal which on Virgin modems has always been absolute rubbish and they have never tried to improve the signal strength but say buy a repeater box (my cost again). Unfortunately my conservatory is on a seperate stand alone loop to the electrical house wires.
I had to have installed an internet wire round the house to the living room (at my cost again)
I asked for the latest modem hoping it would be better but was refused as I wouldn't pay for their high speed version internet. (currently on 200mg).
20 years with Ntlword/Virgin and no valued customer loyalty concessions.
I think being honest it is definetly time for a new provider. They get worse year after year.

If  you have a telephone extension socket in the conservatory then the phone connector from the the Hub can be plugged into it and the other phone sockets in the house should still work.  This way you won't need to move the phone base station.

      Hi RayDHK

      Welcome to the Community Forums.

Sorry to hear of you concerns with the new phone system. The digital phone service has been introduced as the older copper line is being abolished. This is the same for all providers. More information on this can be found on Ofcom's website here.

To continue using our phone service, we would require the landline setup to connect into the router, this can be accomplished by either, moving the router, moving the phone, rewiring (if possible), or other methods like Graham_A has suggested.

Please let us know if you need any further support on your landline digital setup, though we can help with any third party setup, we'll be able to assist with relocating and rewiring if possible from our side.

I stated in my OP that I can't/don't want to move my Hub. The whole point I'm making is why are we having to accomodate your so called improvements. My phone socket is in my living room. Who is paying the cost of rewiring it or adding an extension in my conservatory, round the outside of my house to where my hub is.
Certainly not me again. I have spent enough on just getting an adequate signal as it is. Then you say another price rise which supposedly is to help improve services. When it only costs us more money like now. Plus what extra programmes are we getting? None!
I have basic package and to be honest I can watch all the programmes on Freeview, so your not realy providing me with anything I can't get for free. However you make it sound like I'm getting something great and charging me £71 a month and a hike every 12 or even six months.
A discount for OAP's and customer loyalty would be at least something. Oh! and a new router to kick this one into the bin.!!!!!

If you happen to have a phone extension VM might wire the master socket to the hub, but for the vast majority of people a DECT solution is best.

You can bet they will want me to pay for it like any other extras you ask for.
A Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications. Well supposedly it's a VOIP system "Voice over Internet Protocol. However many are saying its not what Virgin are saying it is. You say for the "vast" majority but lets say just majority. As anything over 51% is a majority. If It's 60 or even 70% that leaves 30% for who it is not the best solution. Those are the ones who have to make the changes, possibly out of their own pocket or just get fed up and cancel accounts.

Any wiring modifications needed as part of the phone switchover should be free of charge.
