Incoming international call blocked.

Hi

A German friend messaged us to say when she tried to phone us on our (digital) landline she got a message saying international calls to our number were blocked.

We have friends and relatives abroad so we have no wish to block their calls.

Thanks for any light you can shed on this.

    Thanks for reaching out to us. Apologies for the issues you are having in being reached over your landline. Can you confirm if any other friends and relatives are having the same issue or is it only Germany?

    If you also have Anonymous caller reject and they are calling off a private number they will not be able to reach you.

    Please let us know.

      Thanks the German friend rang again the next day and got through so I expect the problem was T her end.

    AFAIK, VM has no service to block incoming international calls.

    VM only offers 'anonymous caller rejection' (ACR) which blocks withheld numbers. Do you have ACR on your line and could your friend in Germany be withholding their number when dialling out?

    Another possibility might be a feature on your phone handset which is rejecting international calls. This would depend on your handset model if it had such blocking features.

    Alternatively you may have some kind of call routing issue for your German friend. This gets fairly regular mention where a particular caller/number has issues getting through (either calling in/out) but the line works for everyone else.
