Existing landline number not transferred.

I joined VM some 12-14 days ago and find I have not been receiving incoming calls on my VM landline although I could dial out. I have now discovered that it appears I have been given a completely new random number but no-one thought it appropriate to inform me of this.

Is this a temporary measure until my BT number is transfered?  In the meantime I have had to email all of my contacts (business and personal) of the new number.

How can I check if the porting of my old number will ACTUALLY take place.

    Welcome back to the Community and thanks for taking the time to post. I’m sorry to hear of the issues that you’re having with your landline at the moment. 

    The number given to you would be a temporary number until the port of your BT number can take place. I'd be happy to take a further look into this for you however I would need to confirm a few details via private message, please look out for my message and we can get started.
