If VM have any concerns about porting the BT number, be concerned about loosing the number.
A safer option is to port the BT number to a SIP/VOIP provider e.g. Andrews & Arnold.

Far safer to port your number to a VOIP specialist than move it to VM, especially if you might ever want to move broadband provider again. It's a risk every time
I'm also a very satisfied A&A customer.

Hi Mousey57,
We can conduct a number port from BT to VMo2. If this is something you wish to go ahead with please let us know and we can start the process🙂

The TEL 2 socket is for a second line, and I don't think VM offers two VoIP lines to residential customers.
As for setup: you plug the DECT base station with its handset into the TEL 1 socket and your second handset can be where you like (so long as it can communicate with the station). You'll need a charging cradle for the second handset.
Virgin asked if I wanted them to port the number?
Also can one still have more than 1 handset or do they all have to be plugged into the router individually? We were planning to use a baseunit and 2 handsets but not sure how that would work if they all have to be plugged into router as only 2 TEL sockets on it.

I have online chatted with an agent today. Unfortunately due to technical issue his end, he wasn't able to confirm being able to port our number over so he has referred it to his manager and we should get a call from complaints team about it.
Can we have the ported number as fully ex-directory?
