Book an Engineer for installing a phone line?

I currently do have a phone line as part of my Virgin package, which I've never used. I realise I can plug a phone into the hub, but ideally I'd like two sockets with different numbers installed (currently no phone boxes installed in the house)

I followed the link below,

https://www.virginmedia.com/help/landline/install-home-phone

Which has this information:
---------

Installing an additional landline

You can get a second Virgin Media phone line installed – with a new phone number. This would run along the same line, but have its master socket at another location in your home. The cost of installation is between £10 and £25 depending on deals, normal telephone rates and pricing applies.

Here you can book an engineer appointment

Sadly this link to book an appointment 301 redirects to a page for managing an existing appointment...

Bit frustrated any ideas on how to book and pay for an engineer?

Must I really call up and wait on the phone for 4 hours, then get cut off, then call again for 4 hours? I tried the online chat, but they do not deal with phone lines apparently.

VM no longer installs traditional phone lines or sockets. Those that do exist are in the process of being migrated to their internet hubs in preparation for a move to full blown VoIP services.

Perhaps you would be better looking at a VoIP provider for your second line? Most of them will easily beat the cost of a second VM line.

If you do want VM you will still be able to have 2 lines, but these will run from the TEL1 & TEL2 sockets on the back of your internet hub. All you will be provided with is 2 RG11 to BT socket adapters to plug a standard phone into, so any house internal wiring from that point onward is your problem.

  • Hi bitkeef,

Thanks for your post and welcome to our community.

The information you've found appears to be outdated and relating to the old phone network.

Is your current phone connection with us connected via the wall socket? or via the hub.

You can have two separate lines and numbers via the Hub if that's what you're hoping to do?

Please pop back to us when you can.
