unable to watch anything on tv go

hi

just downloaded the tv go app on my pc which is right next to my hub. pc using edge. wifi seems to be working ok.

i can get the channel guide on, but i can watch nothing. neither recordings or live tv. everything is met with the message 

sorry we can't play this at the moment 0

Never used tv go before, don't know if i have done something wrong. pc is my only listed device. not using any privacy setting or vpn. i do have a mesh system for home wifi in addition to the virgin hub following advice from a home visit a few years ago, but the virgin wifi is still on ok.

any advice?

  • Hey leighlad, thank you for reaching out and I am sorry to hear you are having some issue watching content on TV GO, also a very warm welcome to the community.

    Not always is content available to stream on the app, for example EastEnders catch up needs to be watched on iplayer.

    Can you try TV GO on another device such as phone?

    I want to watch CNBC live on pc in office. i am too old to be able to see the detail of stock prices on a phone. i have absolutely no interest in watching catch up on iPlayer, especially EastEnders. CNBC is one of the channels VM says should work.

    I switched off wifi, pc etc. removed all cookies, reset the device name etc. today I could hear several stations including CNBC, but no picture. so, the content is obviously streaming ok, but no idea why no picture. the picture for this station is very important. I get the station in my tv package.

    even though I can hear it, I still get the screen message "sorry we can't play this at the moment 0"

    so, none of the messaging makes sense, because it obviously plays the sound but not picture.

      Thank you for letting us know this.

      Some channels due to licensing do not work on TV GO,  this could be one of them.

      This is because due to there licensing laws they require you to watch it directly via them, so for example EastEnders on catch up or Emmerdale on the ITV X 

      Are all the other channels working as they should be? 

      Is it just this one channel not working?

    Channels provision on TV Go is subject to rebroadcast agreements. Some broadcasters will allow streaming on portable devices only, or even specific devices or operating systems. Sometimes individual programmes can also be blocked due to specific broadcast rights issues for that programme.

    I have to admit, of all the operating systems you can use with TV Go, Windows driven devices seem to have the most restrictions.

  • all channels have the same issue. i can get tv go on my mobile but i want it on my pc. i get sound now on pc. there is a symbol in the top right of the screen which looks like picture in picture. if i click on that, there is a mini picture which appears for less than a second in the bottom left of the screen, then disappears. so there is obviously something blocking the picture, it must be getting through. no add ons (as far as i am aware) and no pop up blockers switched on. still stuck. otherwise it still says not available, we can't play this at the moment 0. the thumbnail of the different tv channels does update every now and then to what is playing on the tv. bbc i player works on pc.

      Hi leighlad, thank you for your response.

      Have you spoken to the customer service team regarding this matter? If not, the best number on which to call them is 150 (free of charge) from a Virgin Media landline or 0345 454 1111 from any other phone.

      You'll need to be transferred through to the second-line faults team in relation to this particular issue.

  • magically it seems to have fixed itself after 3 weeks. did nothing else at my end other than right clicking on the screen and selecting refresh. can't believe it was that what solved it
