Skysports.com login with Virginmedia

Ive  been able to log in to Sky Sports app to watch live sport until recently but Sky now want me to upgrade app. My iPad does not support iOS 16, but Sky said I can access Sports via their website.
I tried to log in on Skysports.com to watch football today using the Virgin Media log in link but this just signed in as “User” without me putting in any details and did not allow access to live sport.  
Can  Virgin Media and Sky please fix this asap as I’m paying for a service I can’t use.

    Welcome to our forums, and sorry to hear you are having issues when trying to use our browser version of Sky Sports. Can you let us know if this is the link you are using? Are you using the same login details? Do you get this issue on multiple devices and browsers? Please get back to us when you can, and we will do our best to help from here.

    Thank you for responding to my enquiry. 
    I am not sure what you mean when you ask “are you using this link?” I just put skysports.com into my Safari web browser to get to the web site. I then go to sign on and get the Sky log in page with the Virginmedia logo at the bottom, which I click on and then put in my VM credential and enter. This takes me to the Sky Sports homepage and I click “watch” to access live sport and select an event to watch but all I then get is a greyed-out picture with the words “Subscribe to Sky Sports to watch live, or stream on NOW” and a button saying “Open in our Sky Sports app.”

    I’ve tried using Firefox browser with the same result. Although the Sky sports page shows as logged in, it doesn’t show my details, only “User”. I do not have access to a laptop, I just use an iPad, but if I try to access Skysports.com on my wife’s iPad, I get the same result.

    anything you can do to sort out this problem would be appreciated.

      Hi Peterbra 

      Thanks for coming back to the thread. Have you still got the app downloaded? If so, can you remove it before trying to use the website? I had a similar issue with Netflix live streaming for the wrestling and had to use website, on an iPad as well. This only worked for me when I removed the app so hopefully does similar for you :).

        Hi John_GS.

        thank you for your suggestion. I have deleted the old Sky Sports app from my iPad and looked in to Sky Ports web page. Unfortunately with the same outcome - “subscribe to Sky Sports to watch live or stream on NOW”. 😒
        Any other suggestions???
