Hi rollocks,
Thanks for taking the time to contact us via the Community. It's lovely having you on board with us in the Forums. ⭐
We're sorry to hear you've been having an issue with your speeds lately. Checking things here, our diagnostics on your home network and Hub have not found any issues that could account for speed issues. All power and signal levels are optimal, I'm not seeing any errors and there are no open faults in your area either.
As you're running in modem mode, can you please try re-running the speedtest connecting the Hub directly to the Laptop or PC? This will allow us to rule out a third party router issue. Make sure you turn the Hub off, disconnect the router and connect to the PC or Laptop before turning the hub back on.
You'll also need to ensure the network card on the PC or Laptop is 1GB and that the ethernet cable is cat 6 minimum. Pop back here with your results.
In terms of the price, we're always happy to review things however we don't offer a match service. The best offers are available when in the last 30 days of your minimum term and you can check these out via My VM here.
Thanks,

Thanks. Take it from me the speeds were great until BT and EE came along. It also now cuts out about 20 times a day for a couple of minutes then stats up again Very annoying
As for price match. I'm a bit tied up at present but if no price match I'm off

Hi rollocks,
Thanks for coming back to us on this one.
Did you manage to complete the speed test via a wired connection? What were the results?
In terms of the disconnections, are these happening on the WiFi or through an ethernet cable too?
Pop back and let us know so we can help further.
Thanks,

BT/EE is a completely different network (Openreach) with its own cables, cabinets etc. Their network has no effect whatsoever on Virgin Media.

Well its a very odd coincidence my 1 gig worked great until the day after BT/EE arrived. 12 months no issue then crap

Hi Rollocks,
As other people may have mentioned, the answer to your question is: No.
Whether you are a XGSPON, HFC, or RFoG these are all completely separate to the Openreach network.
XGSPON is delivered by Nexfibre (Like Openreach) but solely for VirginMedia at the moment, this is 'full fiber' into your home
HFC is coax cable from your premise to the street cabinet where it is joined to the VirginMedia fiber network.
RFoG is Fiber to your house, but then converted to coax to reduce congestion, latency, and other issues the dated HFC coax network has.All of the above topologies used by Virgin Media are solely completely their own network. You may see Nexfibre/Virgin engineers working in the BT cable vaults and/or the BT telegraph poles, but they are completely separate networks. Nexfibre have an agreement with BT called 'PIA' which allows them to deliver fibre to your house using the existing Openreach in-ground ducting, and telegraph poles. So; no digging up roads, or driveways (Everybody stays happy).
RFoG / XGSPON is the future for VirginMedia. RFoG customers can easily be upgraded to GPON or XGSPON (yet to be decided) when the time comes, and the HFC network will slowly start to be replaced over the next few years.
Hopefully this helps a little 😀
