A CAT 5e cable is all we need for a reliable 1 Gbps connection.
I don't read the PC is directly network cable connected to the VM Hub - is that the case ?
Or is there a 10/100 switch or 10/100 Powerline adaptor or some other network kit involved ?
Look carefully at the network socket on the PC, it needs to have 8 contacts and they all need to be undamaged to connect at 1Gbps. Same goes for the VM Hub end, where there are a choice of 4 network sockets to test with.
Also what does the speed(Mbps)in the hub app mean because some of my connected devices show speeds greater then the 250 I am paying for
It means nothing unless by wire.
Ok but why have all the devices got different values?
Just for completeness, do a full 60 sec pinhole reset of the Hub. Let it reboot and update itself. Do not manually reboot at this stage. Remove all Ethernet cables before hand.
Shielding on Cat 8 cable ends can cause issues and are not needed with the VM Hub. Stick to Cat 5e or Cat 6.
