Can I change mid contract

Hello,

This is probably common but I can't find my answer.

We're on our second round of M125, currently at £35. The M350 is currently advertised for £27. Can I snag this deal even if I pay the exit fee? If there's one. I see it as if I still save overall more per month compared to the exit fee, it's a win

  • To add, I've now found my cancellation fee would be through that roof, but I'm not leaving? I'm staying and wanting a newer, better contract. I'm understanding that's probably not going to happen

Forget it. Virginmedia will not let you change your contract in any way that reduces the money you pay them.

You could upgrade to M350 but as a current VM customer it will not be at the new joiner offer price of £27.

It is only in very sizeable file transfers that M350 would make discernable time difference.

Often funds are far better focused on improving Wi-Fi coverage in the home ( more Wi-Fi Access Points ).
Better Wi-Fi coverage is totally unrelated to our connection speeds.

They want to save money, not increase speed.

      Hi HanAndCal

Depending upon your financial circumstances you may qualify for the <Essential broadband> package** with VM  which would provide a low cost, low speed broadband connection

Essential Broadband is £12.50 a month for a 15Mbps connection.

Essential Broadband Plus is £20.00 a month for a 54Mbps connection

Essential Broadband Plus Flex is £12.50 a month for a 54Mbps connection with a one of set up fee of £10 for the Flex TV box which provides over 150 TV channels.

** You need to be on either Pension Credit, Universal Credit, Income Support, Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance, or Income-based Employment Support Allowance to be eligible for Essential broadband packages.

Only the account holder receiving Universal Credit, Pension Credit, Income Support, Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance or Income-based Employment Support Allowance can apply

If you do qualify for the above then since you’re already in a contract with VM  they swap you over to one of the Essential broadband packages straight away and you won’t have to pay any fees or extra charges. Go to live chat using the above linked page for more details.

A wondering answer but this isn't needed for us. We can pay it, but who doesn't like saving extra?

This is my primary goal, if my speed goes up, great but I do simply wish to save

Virgin Media is not the place to do that.

It is no longer possible to renew an existing contract in the VM a/c, all that is offered is upgrade / pay more.

There is no way that Virginmedia will let you change to a cheaper contract. At the end of your existing contract you can negotiate a new deal, but it is unlikely to be less than you are paying now.
