1gbit upload

I have been upgraded to 1 gig and while download speeds are as expected, upload is not, hitting 60mbps or so at best (it was hitting 50mbps on the M500 service)

2 months later, I'm still here, nothing has changed, I still have 4 upstream channels, I still oscillate up and down between QPSK, QAM16 and QAM32, I still get 60-70mbps upload at best, at worst I've had 4-5 days of total loss of connection...

  • Hello Stefcolosi.

Sorry this is still ongoing with your upload speeds.

Id like to try a different approach if that is okay with your self.

It was mentioned the Hub may be at fault. Would you be okay if I arranged for a replacement to be sent out?

Once it has been received and activated, we can see what is happening.

I will drop you a private message anyway.

If you can check the Logo top right of your screen that would be great.
    Regards

      Hi Gareth,

Thanks but the hub is definitely not the issue, it has been changed out 3 times, and the issue has remained exactly the same each time. Your engineers have said the circuit is fine between the property and the first cabinet, and they believe there is an issue further up and want networks to look at it.

I am pretty sure that I need a 5th 3.0 upstream channel, or/and a 3.1 upstream channel and that needs to be done by your networks team.

Thanks for getting back to us Stefcolosi

My colleague will be able to investigate this further for you to see if this is indeed what is needed rather than a replacement hub.
Please respond to them on private message and they'll be able to assist further to work towards getting this resolved for you.

  • Well this isn't looking good for me I'm having basically the same issue only 4 upload channels and speeds no higher than 50Mb/s got a engineer booked for the 30th go I hope it gets fixed getting router reboots daily also...

Do you have the 104 upload config? And are you RFoG?

7 months later, and I'm still on 4 channels so not getting anywhere near 104mbps upload. Zero response from any one from VM, they are just not interested,

Anyone on RFoG had 5th and 6th channels added this year?

My apologies that this has not been resolved for you Stefcolosi

I can see that you're speaking with a forums team member already via private message on this issue. Should you need any further update at all or assistance, please do message them and they'll be able to support you further with any available update or questions you may have.

They haven't come back with any form of actual response to my issue since the start of December 2023. As I said "Zero response from any one from VM, they are just not interested"

What VM are interested in though, is continuing to bill me every month for a 104mbps upload without upgrading my line to 104mbps...

  • I know I wouldn't laugh but it really is a joke how clueless the virgin forum team are. The only other people who are as inept is everyone else who works for virgin media.

    Knows their stuff

Reading this thread reminded me of 'The Benny Hill Show'. In particular, the chase scene and the music (with and you and VM rep in it, going around in circles) 🙂

A farce. Right, previously, when I have had an SNR or cab issue, I have asked the house visit engineer to escalate to NETWORKS. Stuff usually then gets moving. Although you are FTTP not HFC, there are still Network people responsible for core network. FTTP should hit top speeds all the time unless a core network issue. This isn't a length of copper that can be degraded and affected by noise, it's optical and as long as the light reading at your house wall box/entry was within spec, its stable.

I realise I didn’t come back and update this thread when it was resolved so in case anyone else is suffering the same issue…

Exactly as this forum had diagnosed - 4 upstream channels just cant hit 104mbps upload. On 08-04-2024, exactly 8 months after I raised the issue, David_Bn from support in this forum picked up my PM thread and did what I was asking, directed the case to Networks to ask them to to change my upstream channels from 4 to 6. That night someone in networks flicked a switch and I woke up with 6 US channels. It’s worked at 104mbps ever since and the upstream timeouts have gone.
