Wifi Pods

If I install Virgin media at a new property, it seems like even if I know that I will need wifi pods (as the house is big), I cannot order them in advance?  I am obliged to submit a speed test and then wait to receive one later?

If you are getting this chance, best to install your own Wifi soluton from the outset.  That way you can have management of your own kit.

  • The logic is that even if you knew that you would need pods, (how many; one, two three) beforehand, VM have no means of confirming that? So they would have to just send them out 'on demand' to anyone who requested them. And human nature, being what it is, a fair number of people would think, 'well I'm entitled to three pods so I'm going to demand them even if they sit in their boxes on a shelf'. Which is not a good idea and wasteful, so you can see VM's position here?

And you may not need them, 'the house is big'; not the most important thing, the material that the walls are made of, the position of the hub in relation to the general layout, are more vital.

So, although, you my be eligible for free pods, you do have a have a demonstrable need for them.

Folks have often spent thousands on iPhones, large TVs, Game consoles, CCTV et al and dip out on what is most needed a decent quality of Wi-Fi Mesh that they own and can control + can extend.

  • Hello Javert,

Thanks for posting in regards to your upcoming installation and Pod's, we appreciate you taking the time to raise your query.

As you appear to have already been advised, we don't send Pod's out on demand. There are steps that need to be followed and diagnostics to confirmed as all properties are unique and pose their own limitations or issues.
