What to do with VM external cable when demolishing house

If you aren't a current customer VM will unlikey be interested in completing any work.

Just do as you say. There is no high voltage, assuming coax cabling, so nothing to be concerned about when handling.

The external VM cable would never be reused, and will become redundant anyway as they update their distribution system to full fibre. So just cut it off at the street end and bin it.

If you are rebuilding your house, you could always consider installing a duct underground (and buried at the correct depth) with a draw rope inside and possibly the old VM cable reinstalled in there. Cost of the ducting is small (within overall house building costs!) and it gives you some future flexibility for underground services without significant future digging once your new home is built. (Good forum name BTW!)

Many thanks folks, appreciate the advice. Given the hassle of getting VM installed in the first place (only two years ago, and in use until they priced themselves out of a customer this summer) I'm minded to keep the cable and tuck it out of the way for now, as it might be a while before fibre arrives in the street and I'd rather keep all provider options open at this point.
