VM Cable needs to be buried can someone help? (Not a VM customer)

I moved into my property in bristol, UK and have discovered virgin media cable above ground in my front garden exposed i know its VM as open reach came to bury it as we thought it was ours. However they have found it is not theirs. I'm not a VM customer but this needs sorting out as I cant do my gardening without fear of cutting it. I tried contacting VM directly through phone and got through to commercial support some how and they couldn't help.

wow, i know VM installers (i use this word loosely ) love to keep the green tube above ground or a few mm below ground but that is horrendous! Bad workmanship and they need to be sacked!

      Hi kenithd,

Thank you for your post and welcome to the community.

I'm very sorry to see how the cable is in your garden.

I will private message you now to take some details so we can get this investigated.

  • We are in a rise of 4 flats. Unfortunately we cannot cut it as it may be connected to another flat. I have seen previous posts on here where virgin staff have responded and gone out to the area to rectify their cable. To be fair it is a &&S trip hazzard as it is on top of the path from the carpark to the garden area where we walk to get into the garden.

Post up some pic's so the VM forum person has something to look at when they get here.

In the best of VM traditions, outcomes for this sort of topic are often quite random. One person might get a cable fixed, another person with a very similar problem may just get ignored or fobbed off.

You aren’t a VM customer, VM won’t be interested, just cut it all away and dump it (properly).

VM will usually only send someone out to a non-customer if the cable is a H&S problem.

Usual procedure is to post up some pic's on here for a VM person on here to assess. Sometimes they offer to look into it. Mostly they don't unless H&S is involved. You may eventually have to DIY if you want rid (although I personally don't advocate chopping cables in that way).
