Virgin Brown Box outside house

We have moved into a property that has a big Virgin brown box outside the front.  Can this box be removed and the wire from it capped off.  We do not have Virgin, but use another internet provider.  The box is very unsightly, and in an impractical place.  Are we safe to remove it?  Have gone direct to Virgin but they are not interested as we do not hold an account with them.

Please provide a photo. If it’s on local council land it’s unlikely to be moved.

Are you referring to a VM box as per photos linked below, screwed to the wall of your home

or something out on the street?

  • Hi JanB58,

Thanks for taking the time to contact us via the Community. It's lovely having you on board with us in the Forums. ⭐

I'm afraid removing wiring is not something we offer. If there is a health and safety issue then we can arrange an appointment to make things safe and tidy, however we would not remove the box or cabling.

When the installation was down, the homeowner at the time would have provided permission for the installation. If you wish to remove the box and cabling, it is safe to do so however this would be something you'd need to do yourself. It's also worth noting that should you need or want Virgin Media services in the future, the installation would likely be delayed due to needing to re-install.

    Many thanks,

if its the brown box on the front of the house - remove it and cut or bury the wires - not your problem if that upsets any other connection - you have given them the chance to do it right - if the cable runs across your garden and you want rid of that cut it at the boundary - job done
