Hi I have recently joined Virgin Media but having issues connecting my CCTV and Sonos to the Hub 5. From reading it seems I might be better off using the hub 5 in modem mode and investing in a third party router.
Can anyone recommend a mid range router if they have used this option

Many people have made progress connecting 2.4GHz only Wi-Fi devices by disabling the 5GHz band of the Hub 5 during the installation of the CCTV / Sonos / Wi-Fi Printer etc.
A real issue appears to be lousy management software on a 5GHz connected mobile phone that fails to detect the devices in question that are on the 2.4GHz band.
Another significant concern could be user approach, there are dozens of post like this with no mention of following the user manuals, and no mention at all of the steps taken so far to resolve the issue and no screen shots of the errors encountered.
Well mid range could really mean anything! But here are some options
