Outdoor cable cut

Hello. I accidently cut the cable in the garden yesterday. It's a twin cable, with the smaller wire completely cut through and the larger wire partly cut through. Broadband still works fine, and I think the smaller wire is the old telephone line no longer in use. If I just wrap it in duct tape any idea if that would suffice? Or should I get it properly fixed? Thanks.

  • I'd suggest getting it fixed as you could introduce noise into your and neighbours lines.

It shouldn't cost anything since the line wasn't correctly buried.

  • Hi Monsoon17,

Thank you for your post and welcome to the community.

Thank you for letting us know about the cable. We can certainly have this looked into.

I will private message you now to confirm your details.

  • All fixed. An engineer came out and fitted a new cable. Impressed with Virgin's service on this occasion.
