No wall sockets on old install

We’re redecorating and having new carpets laid and have a problem. We do not have wall sockets as our virgin service was installed 20yrs ago and the cable comes in through a hole the engineer drilled in the floor boards. We don’t want to drill a hole in the new carpet. How do we get an engineer to come back and reinstall and put a wall box?

    Hi msmazrv

You should call the pre-installs team on 0800 052 1734 and tell them you need a manned install.

They are open  8:00am to 9:00pm  Monday to Friday, and 8:00am to 6:00pm Saturday and Sunday

(It can take a couple of days for a member of the forum team to pick up your post)

Is this “hole” near the outside wall?  Only asking as I’ve never seen a VM engineer chase walls etc.  If it is to the outside I suspect they will just drill a hole out and thread the cable that way. Otherwise cable is usually just clipped on the skirting boards etc. to where ever the cable entry is.
