Network and wifi connection
Dear helpful folk
I'm hoping to sign up for the £40 Bigger Combo bundle but just want to check a couple of important details first. Here's the situation
- I'm in a newly rebuilt tower block with fibre to every flat, currently from Hyperoptic. The connection is just a 3-inch cable coming out of the wall with a green plug [?RJ45 or ?RJ11 - too high up near ceiling to tell].
- This connects to a small box provided by Hyperoptic, which I guess is some sort of modem. Again, fixed to wall almost at ceiling height, which is connected to the wifi router [again, Hyperoptic provided].
- The wifi supports two Macs, two iPhones and an Apple TV box which is about 8m and two walls away from the router. Wired ethernet not an option!
- Apple TV box sited on top of a bookshelf, no obstructions around, and linked to the TV set by about 5m of top quality coax. Gives me iPlayer, ITV-X and the rest with rarely a hiccup – but not the same as live TV.
If I buy the Bigger Combo and book an engineer install, will that provide everything from the initial fibre connection up to my coax TV lead? Will it all work?
Do I have to go online and buy anything? [Come back, Maplin, wish you were still here!]
TIA, apologies if this is a bit tedious and simplistic.
