Moving router

My Virgin router was installed in an awkward location as it's right in the far corner of the property so the signal is poor in large portions of the house. I'd like to get it moved to a better location. It seems putting a post on here gets noticed by the VM team and I can get an appointment organised for an engineer to do this (I've seen there's a £25 fee on other posts). I hope so as I can't face losing hours to various whatsapp/phone calls!

  • The hubs have feable wifi. You would be better off spending £50 on your own router and sticking the rubbish hub in modem mode.

  • That's interesting - I certainly don't get anywhere near the speed I'm meant to, lots of buffering and drop outs. Very frustrating for all concerned! I was partly going to move it as part of renovating the house. If the entry point is moved I can have the office area connected directly by ethernet cable rather than relying on wifi and have some cat 5 or 6 cable running to another point in the house

      Hi cmb82,

Thank you for your post and welcome to the community.

I'm very sorry to hear about the issue with your broadband speed.

Can you confirm if you have any issues on a Wired connection?

Yes, I have done. My TV is connected directly to the router and I still get buffering when streaming. I've had an engineer out previously to try and fix the issue
