Hub 3 - doesn’t fit sockets

I’ve just moved into a new flat and had a virgin media hub 3 arrive. 

I ordered the box over the phone and was told that the previous tenants had also used virgin broadband so it would be a simple set up.

The box has arrived but the wall end of the wiring doesn’t seem to fit into the wall socket?

The actual wall socket is in the hallway (in the first photo) where there are no plug sockets so I can’t plug the box in here as I won’t have a power supply.

it looks as though the wire goes through to the living room  (second photo) but from here I can’t work out where I’m supposed to plug it in as it doesn’t fit anything 

please help!
