Samsung S25+ phone doesn’t auto-reconnect to 5X Hub WiFi

Has anyone experienced any WiFi auto-reconnect issues with their phone or other devices?

I had a new Virgin Media 350GB package and 5X Hub installed a couple of days ago. I’ve since noticed that when I return home my S25+ phone doesn’t automatically re-connect to the WiFi . All correct settings seem to be in place and it connects if I select the network manually.  My wife’s iPhone is unaffected as is my iPad though that doesn’t leave the house so always within range. Very odd. I’ve tried restarting my phone a couple of times, forgetting the Virgin Hub WiFi connection and reconnecting. Still having problems. Any ideas?

Turning off 'smart wifi' (aka 'wifi optimisation') on the VM hub is usually a good first thing to try to see if that helps.

VM's wifi pods, however, require this feature AIUI so if you have VM pods you may not be able to.

Thanks. What does VM Hub smart WiFi do..? Because my wife’s iPhone is unaffected it seems to me that it is a setting in my S25+ phone that is causing the issue….like Intelligent Wifi. I have just turned this off (as suggested online) so see if this helps.

Wireless Channel Optimisation / Smart Wi-Fi appears to configure the VM Hub's Wi-Fi settings for compatibility with VM Pods.   Is it noted for some compatibility issues.

We don't use Smart-Wi-Fi as we prefer manual channels to avoid the VM Hub clashing with our fixed channel Wi-Fi Access Points.

We can't guess if you have a VM Hub or a mobile issues ... but given you have just the one 1 mobile that fails to work ....  maybe a restart of the mobile is place to start.

The suggestion is login to the VM Hub 5x menu at http://192.168.0.1
make the change and try with Smart WiFi disabled.

Having VM Parental Controls enabled in the VM Online Account and using a VPN / Proxy or similar on a mobile would cause a device to fail to work over the Hub's Wi-Fi.
