How to install virgin to bring into the house?

Hi I ordered a virgin media but I can’t use it as I need a wall socket. We just redecorated the house so worried the cable will be visiable? How they do it? From the house I will see the cable? I don’t mean from the wall socket to the hub. My question from the entry of the house to reaching the socket? Thank you.

Answers will depend on a few different factors (such as what kind of installation you are getting and the layout of your home).

For an installation with coaxial cable, a cable emerges from a plastic duct in the street and is shallow buried or nailed to a wall or laid on the surface and runs to an external wall box which is the termination point outside your home.

From there a cable is brought internally to a wall box inside where the equipment is connected. Equipment in different locations may need more connection points.

Cables are clipped internally (not under floors, hidden in walls etc.). You will need to state where you want the cable and boxes. The VM tech will try to accommodate (although the tech's aim will be to take the easiest/quickest route possible for ease of installation). Your cable may need to run internally or, depending on your home the tech may be able to run around the sides etc.

  • Hi Dezdi,

Thanks for taking the time to contact us via the Community. It's lovely having you on board with us in the Forums. ⭐

When getting an install, it will depend on the area you're in as this determines the type of connection you'll have.

The connection will either be through a cable underground which enters your property through an external box on the wall. This is known as an omni box. Or the cable will be fed via telephones and will be attached to the outside again via the omni box.

On your installation, you'll be able to discuss with the engineer the best place to put the box, alongside where you want the hub installed inside the property.

    Many thanks,
