Damaged Render by the Engineer

Does anyone know how i complain about the engineer damaging the Render of my house whilst Drilling through the wall.

He reported it to his line manager on the day and said they'd be in touch to get it repaired. Now he's ignoring our texts for the number he gave.

Based on many similar past 'property damage' topics on here, expect to receive some non-productive communication back and forward with VM and very little repairing to happen any time soon. Be prepared to set some deadlines for action from VM. You may end up having to get the wall fixed yourself and claim back the money from VM through a small claims process.

A VM person should reply here to your topic, usually within a few days, and may offer to take details and refer your photo onwards.

Turn off the hammer action on the drill just before the drill bit reaches the outside surface of the wall.

And/or, depending on what size of finished hole is required, use a smaller drill diameter first of all followed by a larger diameter.

But the above is time consuming so typically an installer will just blast through with a large size bit and the drill on hammer action all the way through which results in a blowout.

Depending on the type of render/bricks though, even drilling with the greatest care can still result in a blowout.

Glad I am not an installation engineer, brittle / degraded external wall render & loose internal plaster must be a constant issue.
