- nodrogdVery Insightful PersonIP locations can often be wrong after IP addresses are reallocated. Location trackers take a while to catch up. If you are on a VM connection in Swindon you will be connected to the CMTS at either Swindon or Bristol. It certainly won’t be Belfast. - Gazl8080Joining inI have gone to several IP location sites and all say Belfast and on different devices too. We used to be connected to Swindon or Bristol. I'm not in Swindon, I am in Hampshire. - nodrogdVery Insightful Person

In that case it is likely there has been a re-segmentation of VMs network in your area & everyone locally is now on a different CMTS & has been allocated new IP addresses. This happens periodically in order to increase capacity & resilience of the local network. As per other posts on this thread, IP tracking takes a while to catch up with any change of IP address location, so it will fix itself in a few weeks. I have had this happen to me several times over the years following network upgrades. I’ve been in Central London, Yorkshire & Devon, without actually leaving Hertfordshire.

- TudorVery Insightful PersonYou are not "connected to Belfast" and it has nothing to do with your speed. - Gazl8080Joining inThis doesn't help me in any way, shape, form or fashion. But thank you for trying.

- goslowAlessandro VoltaLong topic about IP location here from earlier in the year which may provide you with more info
- jpeg1Alessandro VoltaTL;DR. IP address is not an accurate indicator of location.
