Why is an upgrade so expensive?

I've been with NTL-Virgin-whatever for over 20 years now and I saw today that I'm paying about 58 quid a month for 125 broadband, well out of contract.  But the Virgin website shows that new customers are being offered 1gig for 31 quid a month.  That's the service I'd like to change to, but Virgin are offering me that service for.....75 quid a month.

So me, a supposedly valued customer, has to pay 35 quid more per month than someone who's never shopped with Virgin.

Is there any way I can get 1 gig at that price, or should I just accept that I'm not a valued customer?

It's an old, old question and the answer is unchanged too.

They offer a low price to attract a new customer. And then hope they can get more out of you without you leaving.

The answer is to go somewhere else that will treat you as a new customer.

  • Hello ParrotofDoom.

Thanks for your post and welcome back to our community.

As a rule, we tend not to deal with package changes here. However, we can have a look and see if we can get you a better deal than what you've been offered.

If you don't mind, I’ll need to send you a private message to pass security.
If you can check the envelope, top right of your screen, that would be great.

  • Thanks for your time over the past week or 2 ParrotofDoom

I'm glad we've been able to agree on a new cheaper deal and a replacement Hub.

Can you please let us know if you need any more help?
