VM02 Security Settings

I currently log in to my Virgin Email Account automatically by clicking on the link in my favourites bar on Microsoft Edge so that I don't need to enter a password. This is good thing because I didn't make a note of the password when I created it long ago.

I also notice that when I go to Security Settings, it states that passkeys are the strongest way to secure my Virginmedia account. However, when I click on the 'add passkey' tab, a Windows Security notification box appears requesting me to insert my security key into the USB port of my desktop.

The problem is that I do not have a security key and never have had one.

Please can anyone advise me why I'm receiving this request, and suggest a way that I can add a passkey without having to insert a security key?

Sorry to hear of the access issues experienced and problems with the passkey, we appreciate you raising this via the forums.

This appears to be in relation to a VMO2 ID, we have help for these here with a passkey set up section advising the following:

With a passkey there’s no need to remember a password in order to sign in.

Passkeys are encrypted digital authentication methods, which are created on your device using biometrics, like face or fingerprint recognition, or your screen lock. After all, as you are your strongest password, it’s much less likely for security risks to occur.

Setting biometric authentication varies across devices and their software.

    For Apple iOS devices:

    Go to Settings

Tap the Face ID & Passcode or Touch ID & Passcode option

Enter your device passcode if prompted

Follow the on-screen instructions to set up Face ID or Touch ID

    For other devices, including Android:

Many devices offer biometric authentication options. You can usually enable these options in your device’s settings

Look for options like Biometrics, Fingerprints, Face recognition, and set things up from there. If your biometrics are already set up, you’ll be able to toggle them on and off

Once enabled, you'll be able to use face or fingerprint recognition instead of entering a
 password or code
