Ultimate Volt bundle query

After some advice. I currently pay £85 for 1gb ultimate Volt bundle and it expires in February, going up to £157. I watch a handful of programs (mostly sport) and don't use the broadband to full capacity but do use the 2 boxes for TV upstairs and downstairs. Considering downgrading to a basic TV package with reduced broadband speed and get sport elsewhere unless the price is keeping with what I pay currently.

Questions,

when is the right time to engage with Virgin about my wishes?

Do I ask them to reduce my services, or hope they offer a deal first?

Are there basic TV packages that mean I can retain use of both boxes, and how much should I expect to pay?

    Hi n1eder

The best time to contact VM regarding downgrading or cancelling is during the last 30 days of your currently  discounted deal before it reverts to out of contract pricing (full price) but they are happy to discuss your needs at any time.

Do your homework first and price up similar deals with other providers. Also determine what you actually need from VM.  You have indicated that you don't use the broadband to it's full capacity so do you require the current level of speed?  Currently you are on a Volt package which doubles your sim data and broadband speed so it might be worthwhile taking out a lower broadband speed on a Volt bundle which would double your broadband speed

The Ultimate Volt bundle is now discontinued so it might be worthwhile to look at either the Bigger Combo Volt + Sports HD package or the Bigger Combo + Sports HD package. They both include Sky Sports HD.

BT Sports is no longer included in any bundles and is now priced at £18 per month, although you may be able to negotiate a reduction on this price.

Additional TV set top boxes are now an additional £10 per month, so again you may be able to negotiate a reduction on this price.

There is also currently a Broadband + TV tier which has Maxit TV and M50 Fibre Broadband (alternative broadband speeds are available) you could add Sky Sports & BT Sports and the additional set top box to this bundle.

When you decide to renegotiate/cancel the best method and time to contact them is to call  150 from a Virgin landline or mobile, or 0345 454 1111, but best to call at 8am when lines first open to avoid call queues.

Choose option 4 retentions (thinking of leaving us) They are generally based in the UK, and have a greater degree of knowledge and flexibility, along with a larger range of discounts than the front line agents. Hopefully you can negotiate a deal with them that's suitable to your pocket and needs in exchange for a new contract.

You can also text VM on 0753 305 1809 or speak to the team on WhatsApp on 0730 532 7112 but phone calls take priority and these methods can take 4 to 6 hours, probably longer.
