Trying to send emails go straight to "Queded"

I have a Motorola phone and recently it started giving me problems.I am unable to send emails FROM my "ntlworld" address. I am however still able to RECEIVE emails to that address. I have checked and compared all the setting that I can find (IMAP, etc, etc) and all is the same as my pc which, sends emails correctly.

I also have a gmail account and that sends and receives correctlyon the same phone.

I don't want to migrate entirely to gmail as I have many years of information and contacts connected to my ntlworld address.

Anybody got any ideas on how to sort this?

I think back to basics in the best approach here.  Just concentrate on getting into your NTL mailbox via MyVM and Webmail.  Once you can access this, then worry about Outlook next.  Keep Gmail out of the picture for now.

  • And now while trying to see what is in my phone Outbox a message has come up "Correct credentials needed". I followed to page with server and IMAP info, pressed next, "Problem with account setup" comes up. All this for a problem THAT I DIDN'T CREATE.

      Hi Dave_3
Sorry to hear this is still ongoing for you.
Just to confirm, have you been able to set up your Virgin Media O2 ID from here? There are also steps on how to access and manage your email here if you need.
If you haven't, then this may be what is stopping you from accessing your emails on your phone. The security details have changed since introducing Virgin Media O2 ID, so you'll need to complete this and update your passwords to gain access again to your Virgin Media emails, online account and other apps, such as TVGO.
Keep us posted with how you get on.

        Hiya,

Sorry for the delay in responding.

Success, I have managed to access my ntlworld email on my pc, but none of my passwords worked. I had to use the alternate verification link to get in.

Reference the Virgin Media O2 ID, is the password for that like the "Just Three Words" format that I was sent? If so, where do I use that?

I have just tried to see my ntlworld emails on my phone and itis still saying "Correct credentials need" when I try to send an email., then it goes to the page that has  username, password, server, port and security type on it. That all looks to be correct, but I don't know what password it is requiring because none that I know, or have set, work.

Oh yes. The list of emails that are queued is starting to fill again each time I try something..

But at least I have an up to date list of emails that I can access. One step forward.

  • I followed the steps to get a new MyVM02 password and was sent a four word password.

I went back to try to access ntlworld on the phone and it seemed to be OK once, then stopped again! One step backwards. I also noticed that the 12 queued messages (the original problem) had all dissappeared, but I'm not sure if they were actually sent or just deleted somehow.

Then this morning I tried to access ntlworld on my pc (which has been fine up to now) and it came up with " Login to server imap.virginmedia.com with username [REMOVED]ntlworld.com failed." I have tried the latest and other possible passwords, but nothing works. TWO STEPS BACKWARDS.

Now I can't be sure if anything is sending or receiving properly.

I am now at a complete loss as to fix this growing pile of problems. I am just going round in circles getting more and more frustrated with Virgin and their awfully complicated procedures/software/apps or whatever I am trying to deal with!

I know the replies that I have received are trying to help but with my little understanding or knowledge I seem to be just making things worse. At this rate I will have to get another email address and write off many years of ntlworld information and contacts because I see no other choice.........

Have you gone through the process of generating an app password to use with your email apps? See info from Graham_A below

Be aware that some people have found themselves locked out of access to their email when the VMO2 ID process has failed for them part way through.

Your long term solution is to ditch VM email as it is totally unfit for purpose for an email service in 2025 (as illustrated by the many topics on here).

Make a backup of your existing VM emails and begin a gradual process of moving your contacts and services over.

VM no longer issues email addresses to new customer and existing customers cannot create new mailboxes.

VM is also closing down legacy mailboxes which are not linked to a current VM broadband subscription.

The only logical conclusion is that VM email will become self-extinguishing at some point in the future or numbers of users will become so small that VM will declare it unviable to continue the service.

Better to move your email addresses on your own terms and timescales rather than one VM imposes on you at some unknown point in the future.

100% agree. It is a pain to move, but well worth it.  I know, I've done it ...

Thanks for your encouragement. However, the thought of going through all the people and services that have got ntlworld as my email address and changing it to gmail is very daunting. Add to that I don't know where to start! I shall try to sort the current problem first..

      Hi,

The My VM app doesn't give me the opportunity to see emails from the front page, so I suppose its only because ntlworld is synced tp my gmail  that I can see them. Correct?

Yes, I am a VM broadband customer and have been for ...... years.

      Hello Dave_3,

Welcome to the Community, and thanks for taking the time to post here on the forums. I’m sorry to hear of the issues that you’re experiencing with your email account.

Please could you answer Cardiffman282's question, as that will help us to determine the issues? Also, are you currently an active Virgin Media broadband customer, or have you just had an NTL world account without a Virgin Media account?

      Kind Regards,

      Steven_L
